November 19, 2025 by Last Word On Hockey

Welcome back to another NHL Predictions. Each day, our writers here at Last Word on Hockey look at the games and give in-depth analysis. Our team breaks down the key matchups, storylines, and stats, then makes predictions based on how they might play out. For this edition, we will look at the Edmonton Oilers taking on the Philadelphia Flyers. Don’t forget to check out more NHL Predictions, as our writers continue this series throughout the 2025-26 season.

NHL Predictions

Edmonton Oilers vs Philadelphia Flyers

2024-25 Season Series: Oilers 1-1 Flyers

How to Watch:

U.S. TV: NBC Sports Philadelphia; ESPN+

Canada TV: Sportsnet

Time: 7:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)

We open NHL predictions with our featured game between the Oilers and Flyers. The embattled Stuart Skinner is the projected starter for Edmonton. However, always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. The Oilers are coming off an overtime win on Monday against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Prime Monday Night Hockey. Connor McDavid is first in assists (10) and points (17) so far this season. However, Leon Draisaitl is the team’s leader in goals with 10.

Daniel Vladar is the expected starter for the Flyers, who are 6-3-1 in the last 10 games. However, Philadelphia did lose in its previous outing. The Flyers are stingy on the defensive end by giving up only 2.6 goals per game, which is good enough for fifth in the league. Trevor Zegras is having a great first season with the Flyers, with 12 assists and 16 points.

Philadelphia seems to be taking steps in its rebuild. However, Edmonton picks up the victory on the road.

Prediction: Oilers win 4-2.

New Jersey Devils vs Chicago Blackhawks

2024-25 Season Series: Devils 2-0 Blackhawks

How to Watch:

U.S. TV: TNT; Max

Canada TV: Sportsnet; SN 360

Time: 9:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)

Our second and final game of this round of NHL predictions has the New Jersey Devils visiting the Chicago Blackhawks. Jacob Markstrom is expected to draw the start for the Devils, who are 6-3-1 in the last 10 games. However, first-place New Jersey lost in its last game. Jack Hughes leads in goals (10) and points (18) so far this season. However, Jesper Bratt is topping the assist category with 11.

Spencer Knight is expected to get the call in goal for Chicago, which has lost its last six games against New Jersey. However, the Blackhawks are much-improved this with a three-game winning streak and 6-3-1 record in the last 10 games. Connor Bedard and Tyler Bertuzzi are both tied for first on the team in goals with nine. However, Bedard is first in assists (16) and points (25) so far this season.

Both teams are playing well lately. However, New Jersey will have just enough to beat upstart Chicago.

Prediction: Devils win 4-3.

Prop Bets of the Night

We close out NHL predictions with our prop bets of the night. Let’s go back to our featured game for our preferred props. The over/under for the Oilers versus the Flyers is 5.5, and we like the over in this game.

For individual props, we like Bobby Brink to get the over on 0.5 points for Philadelphia. On the Edmonton side of things, go with Evan Bouchard to get a power-play point.
