Weigh in on the individual performances in the Union’s 3-0 win against Columbus Crew
It seems after every match, when it comes to player ratings the first person that always jumps out as one of the best performers is Andre Blake. Sunday’s matchup was no different. While it looked like it was going to be a quiet night for the reigning MLS goalkeeper of the year, things changed in the 64th minute.
It was that minute that Kai Wagner earned his second yellow from the ref and was sent to the locker room on a red card. After that moment Blake would make multiple incredible saves, all that could be save of the year. These stops also included an easy denied penalty kick.
While Blake was incredible between the posts, another stellar performance was happening on the back line for Jakob Glesnes. Who had some well time blocks and a perfectly timed slide tackle inside the penalty area to keep the clean sheet.
There was plenty of good things to say as well for the offense. Including the boys in blue’s other center back Jack Elliott. Who scored the first goal of the match in the 25th minute. Elliott’s goal was not the pretest of goals that anyone will see in their life. But it got the Union on the board and helped set the tempo for the rest of the match.
Also scoring in the game was captain Alejandro Bedoya, as well as Leon Flach who netted his first career goal.
