Lonnie Walker IV was diagnosed with a concussion Thursday after taking a hard fall in the Sixers’ loss to the Raptors in Toronto Wednesday night.

Lonnie Walker IV was diagnosed with a concussion, the Sixers announced Thursday.

The veteran guard took a nasty fall in the Sixers’ loss to the Raptors in Toronto Wednesday night. Just two minutes after entering the game Walker went up for a rebound and collided with the Raptors’ Colin Castleton. Walker hit the back of his head on the floor and remained on the ground for several minutes before heading straight to the locker room.

You never want to see a player suffer a concussion, but this is especially tough for a guy like Walker. The 26-year-old was playing in just his 10th game this season after signing with the Sixers last month. The Reading native spent the beginning of the season playing overseas after being in camp with the Boston Celtics.

It took Walker a few games to adjust to the time difference and readjust to the NBA, but he just seemed to be finding his groove. In 10 games, Walker averaged 8.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 19.2 minutes per game for the Sixers. We’ll see how long the concussion keeps him out of the lineup.

Walker joins a very crowded injury list for the Sixers. Joel Embiid, Jared McCain and Eric Gordon are out for the season. It appears Paul George is right behind them. Tyrese Maxey and Kyle Lowry remain out of the lineup. Guerschon Yabusele missed Wednesday’s game with a knee issue that’s been bothering him for a few weeks, but is not on the current injury report. All three of Andre Drummond, Justin Edwards and Alex Reese are listed as questionable for Friday’s game against the Indiana Pacers.
