Listen, I’m as even keeled as the next guy. I usually don’t go too bananas for deals that people theorize online or anything like that, but I saw this and…well.

The Rafael Devers situation in Boston is getting interesting. He clearly doesn’t want to be yanked around by the organization, going from his preferred position to another that it doesn’t seem like he’s all that fond of. He’s then asked to pick up first base once Triston Casas went down to injury and he was vocal about his displeasure at the idea, to the point that the team owner had a conversation with him. It almost feels like the team is trying to get him to ask out of the city by demanding a trade.
Which brings us to our question of the day: if the Red Sox were to actually make Rafael Devers available for trade, would you want the Phillies to pursue it? There are layers to this. One would assume that Alec Bohm would indeed have to go back in a deal, so there would be a pretty substantial drop in defense offset by a pretty substantial upgrade at the plate. It does feel like Devers would be an issue in the clubhouse, but if he’s happy, maybe it all goes away. If he were to be brought to Philadelphia, that would likely spell the end of the Kyle Schwarber era once the 2025 season were drawn to a close, something that might not go over well.
But it’s Rafael Devers.
What say you?
