You be the manager.
Nick Castellanos didn’t play last night. That’s because he didn’t play in the eighth or ninth the night before, having been pulled so that the Phillies could go with a stronger defense in a tight game. More directly, it’s because he expressed his opinion on the substitution to Rob Thomson with a few choice words.
Although Casty has had his moments with the glove…
…it’s no secret that he is not a great defender. But while the move does make some tactical sense, there’s a risk of burning bridges. Castellanos took pride in his now-defunct iron man streak, and clearly took the substitution as a slight.
We know what Casty thinks of the maneuver, hence the suspension. But what do you think of it?
Today’s question is: Would you keep pulling Casty in close games?
