It’s a question that needs to be answered
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the MLB. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Philadelphia Phillies fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
There is a player in the Phillies organization that generates a lot of discussion and his name is Justin Crawford. If you’re reading this, you know who Crawford is: a top ranked Phillies prospect that divides fans because of his skillset. He hits the ball on the ground a lot (not good!), but has done nothing but produce in the minors (good!). He doesn’t have a ton of over the fence power (not good!), but still has 21 extra base hits in 260 plate appearances this season (good!).
There are many who think his skillset will not translate well when he ultimately does arrive in the major leagues, but it’s hard to deny what he has done while waiting his turn to be called up. That leaves us with a question about his future:
If there is another team that values him as highly as the Phillies apparently do, should they cash him in for improvement on this year’s roster? If so, what kind of return would he command in a trade?
With the outfield not producing much of anything this year, would it be wiser to simply see if he can translate that minor league success to the major league level? After all, how much worse could it actually be?
Should they simply leave him be and continue to get regular playing time (and success) in the minors with an eye towards a starting spot in 2026?
Let us know what you think.
