The team isn’t complete yet
The Phillies are humming right now, playing good baseball, beating good baseball teams and playing quite well. It’s been much smoother sailing for them considering how uneven the first few weeks were playing out for them and heartburn that they were causing people.
Still, there are places to improve. For any team in the game, there is a spot to improve on that will make the roster that much stronger come time for the postseason. Some teams will be proactive in upgrading that spot, some will try and come up a bit short. Once the trade season begins, you can pretty much guarantee that the Phillies will be one of the teams searching high and low for help for the roster.
Which brings us to our question of the day: which part of the Phillies roster, as it stands right now, is most in need of being upgraded? For a while, it looked like an easy answer – one could choose either center field or the middle part of the bullpen as the places most desperately in need of reinforcement, but a few weeks of solid play has made both spots, at least for the moment, tolerable to make it through the season. Making it through the playoff gauntlet in October? That might be an entirely different story altogether.
