Aaron’s arrival draws near.
May wasn’t all that long ago, but it feels like the distant past. The All-Star Game had never seen a swing-off in those long-ago days! Can you imagine?
Speaking of May, that was the last time Aaron Nola pitched. His ankle injury has kept him out since his start on May 14th, and the biggest development regarding his return had been the discomfiting discovery that he had somehow fractured his rib at some point along the way.
But, at long last, there is some good news: Nola will be pitching again soon. He’s set to start a rehab assignment in Lehigh Valley on Thursday, with three or four total AAA starts likely before he returns to Philly.
Nola had struggled in his starts prior to the injury, but it’s yet to be seen whether or not the trend will continue after his return. Could the time off serve as a reset, giving us a more polished Nola? Or will the rust perpetuate his struggles? Time will tell. In the meantime, what do you expect from Nola’s return?
