Edmundo Sosa: bench player extraordinaire
I saw this yesterday scrolling Twitter.
Gonna need to look it up and think about it, but man, Edmundo Sosa might be one of the best bench players the Phillies have ever had.

Not sure how to look this up, but I wonder if this is true. Anecdotally, it is very much true. In the three years Sosa has been here, he’s done everything a team could ask for from a player that isn’t a regular starter. He’s stepped in when needed and done so admirably, he’s platooned well when asked to do so and has even learned position foreign to him at the beginning of the year.
He’s been a good acquisition for the team.
On to the links.
Phillies news:
- So now, we have a second source that is saying the Phillies have asked about David Bednar and Dennis Santana.
- The MVP of the team so far has been…Kyle Schwarber? No. Zack Wheeler? No. It’s been Rob Thomson ($)!
MLB news:
- Corbin Carroll is back from the injured list for the Diamondbacks….right until they end up losing someone else to injury.
- Former White Sox closer Bobby Jenks passed away after a battle with stomach cancer. He was 44.
- Even with the injury to Max Muncy, the Dodgers aren’t looking to add anybody to their third baseman mix at the deadline.
