A tale of two starting pitchers
The Phillies received two very different performances from their starting pitchers in yesterday’s doubleheader. Mick Abel couldn’t get out of the second inning while Cristopher Sánchez cruised through seven. Credit to Sánchez, he stepped up when the Phillies needed him after Abel’s short start in the first game.
The strength of this team is its starting pitching. When they perform well, it usually leads to success. If they stumble, it leads to problems. Yesterday was just another example of both extremes.
