Alec Bohm’s hit streak ended at 18 games… what’s next?
Despite the joy of a sixth straight win, and clinching a four-game series sweep against the Giants, there was one sad goodbye made on Monday night. Alec Bohm went 0-for-4, ending his hit streak at 18 games — the longest in Major League Baseball so far this year.
Alec Bohm’s 18-game hit streak came to an end today.
It’s the longest in the majors so far this season and the longest by any @Phillies player since 2017.#MLB | #RingTheBell pic.twitter.com/3EDpBJBmxd

He came a bit shy of Jimmy Rollins’s franchise record 38 games, but still made a bit of Phillies history of his own along the way. He’s only the eleventh player to reach 18 games in a Phillies uniform, and only the fifth thirdbaseman.
Alec Bohm extended his hitting streak to 18 games last night:
✅ Now the longest in MLB this year.
✅ Longest by a #Phillies 3B since Willie “Puddin’ Head” Jones’ 23 in 1949-50.
✅ For streaks in a single season, the longest by a Phillies 3B in 93 years.

Beyond the hit streak, what Bohm was able to accomplish over the past month has been incredible to watch.
From @EliasSports: Alec Bohm is batting .492 with 21 RBIs over his last 15 games. It’s the highest batting average for a Phillies player over a 15-game span since
Jayson Werth hit .511 over 15 games in the summer of 2007. (Bohm and Ryan Howard are the only Phillies in the last 90…— Buster Olney (@Buster_ESPN) May 5, 2024
Bohm has had the kind of hot streak that hasn’t been seen in South Philadelphia since Ryan Howard was crushing balls.

His success thus far even earned him his first career NL Player of the Week award.

If anecdotes and historical comparisons don’t move the needle for you, here’s Bohm’s season thus far by the numbers:
.349 – He has the fourth best batting average in all of baseball right now, behind Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Steven Kwan. He’s also in the top-5 of both OBP and OPS.
32 – His 32 RBI puts him second in baseball, just one behind Marcell Ozuna.
2.0 – He’s already set a career-high in fWAR, and we’re still only six weeks in to the season. His previous high was 1.4, reached in both 2022 and 2023.
10.3% and 15.1% – On top of hitting well, and often, he’s also walking more and striking out less than ever before. His 10.3% walk percent is currently out-matching his career high (8.9% in 2020) and his 15.1% strikeout percent is the lowest so far (15.4% in 2023).
.444 – More impressive than his hit streak, Bohm is hitting when it matters most. He’s batting .444 with RISP, with 16 hits and just seven strikeouts — and he’s batting .476 with RISP and two outs.
While it’s unfortunate to see his hit streak come to an end, the season is still just beginning and it’s looking like it could be a career year for Alec Bohm. The Phillies are going to need him to stay hot, especially with Trea Turner out for at least six weeks.
In the Meantime… Who’s Next?
When one streak ends, there’s always another on the way. Here’s where the rest of the lineup stands:
7 – Merrifield
4 – Marsh
3 – Realmuto, Harper, Castellanos, Sosa
1 – Schwarber
0 – Stott, Rojas
