The Philadelphia Phillies have placed infielders Trea Turner and Alec Bohm on the 10-day injured list, according to a report from Matt Gelb of The Athletic. In corresponding moves, Otto Kemp has been recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley, and Donovan Walton has had his contract selected. Turner left the game on Sunday with a hamstring strain. Turner also spent time on the injured list last season with a hamstring injury. A corresponding 40-man roster move to make room for Walton has not been reported yet. Meanwhile, this is the second time Bohm has been on the injured list this season. He previously missed time due to a rib injury.
Charlotte Varnes of The Athletic reports that Turner’s injury is a Grade 1 strain and that the Phillies expect him back for the postseason. No timeline for Bohm’s return has been announced or reported.

Lineup Effects
Presumably, Kyle Schwarber will take over the leadoff spot for the Phillies. He has been moved out of that spot this season, but has extensive experience batting there. This would likely put J.T. Realmuto or Harrison Bader in the two spot for the time being. Bader has become a starting outfielder for the Phillies after initially serving in a platoon role. In past instances of Turner being out, Realmuto has taken over batting second in the lineup. They could also experiment with Bader in the leadoff spot, as he does fit the traditional leadoff hitter profile. For Monday’s game, the Phillies have elected to put Bryce Harper in the leadoff spot with Schwarber batting second.
Playing Time Adjustments
Edmundo Sosa and Bryson Stott will be in line to handle the workload at shortstop. Kemp primarily plays second base as well as third base, but could fill in at shortstop if needed. The Phillies’ promoting Walton makes sense given the lack of shortstop depth the team has. Walton has 23 career major league appearances at shortstop. It is worth noting that Walton is out of minor league options. That means he will likely be designated for assignment once Bohm or Turner returns, whichever comes first. Kemp will probably get more playing time than Walton. Additionally, Weston Wilson could see some playing time in the infield, and he does have major league appearances at second base and third base.
