Logan O’Hoppe also hits a dinger in his team’s disappointing loss.

Remember Chase Anderson? That starting pitcher guy the Phillies thought could be a good 4/5 starter (the results may shock you) with his first rehab appearance. The rest of the LHV relief gave up 10 runs (5 earned) on 13 hits and 2 walks. The IronPigs made a valiant effort to make a comeback but fell short in the top of the 9th.

Reading relinquished the tie game in the bottom of the 7th with Aneurys Zabala taking the loss. The Fightin’s offense outhit Erie 11 to 7 but were 1 for 10 with RISP and left 8 on base. Bryson Stott is in the middle of an uncharacteristic slump at the plate over his last three games, going just 1 for 14 with 5 strikeouts.
Hudson Valley 8, Jersey Shore 7 (F/10)
Kevin Gowdy – 5.2 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 4 ER, BB, 5 K, WP, 8 GB, 0 FB
Logan O’Hoppe – 2 for 5, HR, 2 RBI, K
Casey Martin – 0 for 4, R, BB, 2 K
Jhailyn Ortiz – 1 for 4, R, BB, 2 K
Vito Friscia – 1 for 4, RBI, K (fielding error)
Jonathan Guzman – 0 for 3, BB, K
Kevin Gowdy’s start was a rollercoaster ride last night. He started the game with striking out the side in the 1st, then followed it up with a 1-run 2nd inning and a 3-run 3rd inning before settling down for the remainder of his outing. The BlueClaws actually battled back down 6-1 to tie the game and force extra innings. Sadly, HV scored 2 in the top of the inning to just JS’s 1 in the bottom of the 10th. Logan O’Hoppe hit his 6th homer of the years.

Luis Garcia – 2 for 3, 2 HR, 3 RBI
Juan Aparicio – 1 for 2, 2B, BB, K

Thresher pitching was dreadful last night, giving up 13 runs on 12 hits and 8 walks so the offense didn’t even stand a chance despite Luis Garcia’s two homers (his 3rd and 4th of the season). After a disappointing 2019, Garcia is slashing .239/.362/.381 with 2 SB.
