Welcome to the Club
On May 19th, 2025 Kyle Schwarber blasted his 300th career home run off Rockies reliever Scott Alexander. Schwarber launched the ball 466 feet into the mountain air cementing his place in Phillies history.
Phillies 300 HR History
Schwarber became the 6th player to reach the 300 HR milestone in a Phillies uniform, joining: Chuck Klein, Roy Sievers, Mike Schmidt, Ryan Howard, and Bryce Harper.
The Phillies also have a handful of players who are in the 300 home run club, but they did not reach the achievement with the organization. Some of the players on the list who played for the Phillies are: Jim Thome, Dick Allen, Raul Ibanez, Greg Luzinski, Scott Rolen, Andrew McCutchen, and Carlos Santana.
Mike Schmidt and Ryan Howard are the two greatest power hitters in franchise history. Schmidt (548) and Howard (382) are one and two on the Phillies home run list. It is safe to say Kyle Schwarber has added his name to the list. Schwarber (148) is already 17th all time for Phillies home runs. Keep in mind its only been four seasons and 514 games with the team. He is currently tied with Rhys Hoskins and two home runs away from Mike Liberthal and Scott Rolen. With plenty of games left in the season and a likely contract extension looming, Schwarber will continue to climb up the Phillies home run list.
Staggering Power Numbers with Philadelphia
The power hitting lefty has always been known for his quick powerful swing. Pitchers can’t take a single pitch off against Schwarber. He has the special ability to turn the tides of a game in one swing or putting an exclamation mark on a win with a late inning moon shot that sends The Bank into a frenzy. First in the lineup, fourth in the lineup, at home, or on the road Schwarber is a long ball machine.
But has he always been this dangerous of a hitter? Reputation wise yes, but since being in a Phillies uniform, Schwarber has taken things to another level. During his first seven seasons in the big leagues the Middletown, Ohio native hit 153 home runs. He did have some shortened seasons only playing 2 games in 2016 and 59 games in 2020. In the first seven years his highest for a season was in 2019 with 38 homers.
Since joining the Phillies on a 4 year, $79 million dollar contract in 2022, Schwarber has done nothing but hit home runs. What he has done in Philadelphia is truly staggering – 148 home runs in 514 games. For context he hit 153 homeruns over 664 games before joining the Phillies. Schwarber has also topped his previous best 38 home runs twice with the Phillies; hitting 46 homers in 2022 and 47 homers in 2023. With 17 homers already this season, he is on pace for a career high 55 home runs. The man rakes.
We all know that winning is the most important thing in sports, but it is also pertinent to not take players for granted. We are witnessing one of the best power hitters in franchise history. In 131 seasons of Philadelphia baseball fans have only witnessed six players hit their 300th home run in a Phillies uniform. It will be exciting to see what the future holds for Kyle Schwarber and I expect to see him reach many more milestones with the Phillies. But for now, congrats to Schwarber on reaching 300 career home runs.
