Much has been made of the death of bunting. We have been told that it is the dodo or dinosaur of baseball, a fusty fixture of the past. And unlike the shift or pitchers picking up a bat, it didn’t even get to save face by pointing to a rules change to explain its demise. It just fell out of favor.

But maybe not in Philadelphia.

That tweet, made as the Phillies were bunting their way to the bases loaded situation that set up Monday night’s walk off win, made the team’s position clear. While bunting is not the commonplace sight that it once was, it is clearly still practiced in Philly.
