How do you think he’s done so far?
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the MLB. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Philadelphia Phillies fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
The first month of the season is coming to a close and that means we can take some time to assess the team. There are different sections of the team that we can look at and analyze a bit deeper, but let’s start with the manager.
Rob Thomson endures quite a bit of criticism from circles of the fanbase. Some of it is unwarranted (talking about his needing to get thrown out to fire up the club always makes me wonder) and other times, the criticism is totally valid. As with any job in an sector, people are subject to constructive criticism for any of the decisions that they make and Thomson is no different. There are probably a bunch of situations where what Thomson chose to do is something we could point to and talk derisively about, but hey – that’s part of the job.
However, we want to know what you think.
Were you asked to give a simple school-type grade of the job that Thomson has done so far this season, where are you at?
Personally, I think we’re at no less than a “B” for the job he’s done. A lot of the issues are probably more of a personnel issue than anything Thomson has/hasn’t done, so if I were to direct specific criticism at someone, it would be more likely to land in the president’s box than anywhere in the dugout.
