There have been some good things

While Memorial Day marks a certain point in the year when evaluations can be made regarding how baseball teams are doing, the 40 game mark also represents something. It’s roughly a quarter of the way through the season and it’s when we can at least make some relatively stable judgements about how players are doing. Another two weeks worth of data can help reinforce those judgements, but at least now we can say that “yeah, that guy’s pretty good”.
So, at this point in the year, there are good things that are happening with the team. Some are rather obvious. The starting rotation, the backbone of this team’s construction and the fulcrum on which their playoff destiny hinges, has been excellent. Kyle Schwarber continues to re-work himself as not just a good power hitter, but a good all around hitter as well, completing his profile by hitting left handed pitching well. Trea Turner has continued a solid season, even if we wish the power were there a little more.
This leads to our question of the day.
