It can be a nice salve
Last night’s win was one that the Phillies needed very badly. They were reeling after losing nine out of ten games and coming home, it was hoped, would be the medicine the team needed. Some of the issues that they have had of late – not producing with runners in scoring position, back breaking relief work – showed up against the Cubs, but in the end, the victory belonged to the Phillies.
Which brings us to our question: does one win after a long losing streak make you feel that much better about the team? Now, let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. There are still plenty of holes in the team’s dam that are leaking. Bad defense, lack of quality relief options, outfield help that is needed, these are all things that the team still needs to address one way or another if they hope to push for a World Series title. But for one night at least, there is something to celebrate. Many are going to take a victory lap about Otto Kemp and for one night, we’ll agree. I’m still not sure of his future, but hey – he was a main cog in the victory.
So, are you still feeling good about the team after the win, do you still think the worst for them, or are you somewhere in the middle?
