The Philadelphia Flyers are going to have a very important decision to make when they make their selection at sixth overall at the upcoming 2025 NHL Entry Draft. We won’t know the specific players available, of course, but they can possibly go in a variety of directions. Maybe the ultra-offensive and skilled Jake O’Brien — that we watched recently — or James Hagens slips to them but do they want two centermen under six feet tall long term? Maybe they just grab the defenseman they like the most because that is a pressing need, as well. Or, as we will see today, they can get the physical forward, Brady Martin.
Coming from the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL, Martin has quickly been rising up draft boards thanks to his aggressive and physical approach to each game. That’s what all the scouts have said, anyways. But, we should see for ourselves.
Is Martin really this punishing type of player? Does his offensive game shine through enough to warrant a top-10 selection? Is he possibly worth a reach by the Flyers at sixth overall, or willing to take the risk and trade down to take him? How does he compare to other prospects?
We’re here to find it all out. So, we clipped together every shift of his from a recent Greyhounds game and watched it on the Broad Street Hockey YouTube channel:
What we found out was pretty surprising given all that we’ve heard about the player. Maybe we just caught a bad game or a performance in the middle of a significant slump where he didn’t give his full effort, but you will just have to see for yourself what we found out.
Make sure to subscribe to the Broad Street Hockey YouTube channel! We’re going to keep on doing these Shift By Shift videos for the foreseeable future. We’ve already done 2025 NHL Draft prospects like Jake O’Brien and Brady Martin, but once the draft has come and gone, we will be trying to watch as many games as possible from whoever the Philadelphia Flyers take in the seven rounds.
Oh, and read all the draft profiles that we’re putting out almost every single day.
