Philadelphia got a guy from Buffalo.
Everyone knew the Philadelphia Flyers were going to be active trying to fill holes on the blue line, but no one knew how quickly.
During the first few hours of the weekend of the 2021 NHL Draft, the Flyers have reportedly acquired right-handed defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen from the Buffalo Sabres for Robert Hagg, the 13th-overall pick in tonight’s draft, and a 2023 2nd-round pick.
Sounds like Rasmus Ristolainen is going to Philadelphia in a package deal that includes the Sabres getting the 13th pick in the draft.

Ristolainen, 26, has been the anchor of the Sabres’ blue line for several years now, but has some of the worst numbers in the league while playing tough minutes. With just one year remaining on his contract that gives him a cap hit of $5.4-million, this is certainly swinging big and gambling on a decent improvement if he isn’t subject to the league’s best forwards coming at him. Who knows if that will even happen.
With Ristolainen’s contracts on their books, the Flyers now sit around $8.4 million to re-sign Carter Hart, Travis Sanheim and fill out the depths of their roster.
