As the offseason gets underway, here we will wrap up our series of what I would do with every player on the Eagles roster if I was Howie Roseman, looking at the special teamers.
Jake Elliott
After an absolutely putrid 2020 season, Elliott had by far the best year of his career, making the Pro Bowl thanks to converting 90.9% of his attempts with 30 makes, and hitting all 44 of his extra points. He needed this bounce-back, because I honestly think there is a decent chance the Eagles would have cut him if he had another poor showing this season. Now, still just 27 years old and with three years left on his deal, he is not going anywhere.

Arryn Sippos
Sippos has an interesting backstory, as he started out playing Australian Rules Football for five years before being offered a college scholarship from Auburn University at the age of 25 to be their punter. His first NFL action came Week 1 of this year as the Eagles punter at age 28, and he initially impressed with his really strong leg. However, he had a bad season overall, ranking in the bottom 7 in both yards per punt and net average, and he also had a couple shanks in the Wild Card game in Tampa. Siposs is an exclusive rights free agent, meaning he can come back for very cheap, but frankly the Eagles should be looking for an upgrade here, especially with this monster in the draft (I promise, this punter highlight reel is worth it. This guy is ridiculous. He even hits people too!)
What I would do: I am fine bringing him back on the small tender in the event that they don’t find a replacement for him, but there are actually a couple great punter prospects in the draft, particularly the aforementioned Matt Araiza out of San Diego State, who might be the best college punter of all time. This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I think they should be targeting him on Day 3 of the draft. They need the upgrade, and he is legitimately a weapon. Even if they don’t, though, I would be looking for someone else at this spot.
Rick Lovato
I confess, I do not have any riveting analysis on Eagles long snapper Rick Lovato, but he has been their guy there for over half a decade now, and is under contract until 2024. He has been reliable, and there is no reason to make a change there.
