Last Season, the Eagles Won the Super Bowl Without Nakobe Dean.
But He Isn’t Planning on Watching From the Sidelines Again — At Least for this Whole Season.
Much like Carson Wentz seven years earlier , Nakobe Dean stood on crutches on the sideline after the Eagles’ exhilarating Super Bowl win last February. And like Wentz , Dean basked in the glory of the Super Bowl victory — on the journey that his team had just completed and the elation to follow.
It was midway through the second quarter of the Eagles’ 2025 NFC Wildcard Game against the Green Bay Packers — with the Eagles up 22–10 — Dean was injured trying to tackle Green Bay Tight End Tucker Kraft. He was carted off the field and did not play again for the Eagles during the Super Bowl run. He has now spent more than eight months rehabilitating from a Patellar Tendon tear , with no current timetable for return. There’s no telling how his return could help the Eagles’ odds on social casino apps. He has begun Training Camp on the PUP list.
But with the departure of Oren Burks at linebacker , another youthful Eagles Unit, which prepares to take the field in September, that will be tested by top NFL offenses like the Chiefs, Lions, Packers, and Rams, and will no doubt be good for years to come.
And on the night of November 10th , the Eagles will have a fall matchup in Green Bay with the Packers. It may very well be around the time that Dean is ready to return to the field. Just in time to join an Eagles team preparing for a winter run back to the Super Bowl.
For Dean — who can only move as fast as his rehabilitation process allows — cannot wait too long while a unit complete with Jeremiah Trotter, Jr., Zach Baun, Jihaad Campbell, Jaylx Hunt, Nolan Smith, Azeez Ojulari, Joshua Uche, and Patrick Johnson (to begin the season).
It’s not certain when we’ll see Nakobe Dean back on the field — but a late arrival at just the right time could very well mean — another Super Bowl appearance. One with him on the field — rather than being on the sideline.
Just in time to help the Eagles. Just in time for redemption — not for the Eagles — but for himself.
