Tyreek Hill Wants to Play In 2026. It Probably Won’t Be For the Dolphins

October 1, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a gruesome season-ending knee injury in Week 4’s win over the New York Jets, and the eight-time Pro Bowler won’t play in 2025 but reportedly wants to return in 2026. The only problem is that if he returns to the field, it probably won’t be with the Dolphins.

Tyreek Hill carries a massive $27.7 million cap hit next year, but none of his salary is guaranteed. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, $11 million of Hill’s contract becomes guaranteed if he’s still on Miami’s roster in March, and he’ll also get a $5 million signing bonus.

With surgery today, it’s possible that Tyreek Hill will undergo additional surgeries. There is no guarantee he’ll be ready for 2026.

None of his 2026 salary is guaranteed now, but $11M (of $29.9M) becomes fully guaranteed if he’s on the roster in March, plus a $5M roster bonus. https://t.co/E9WkfEjzPA

Tyreek Hill is a great player, but there’s no way Miami is making that type of financial commitment to a 31-year-old coming off a devastating knee injury, especially when the wideout created some off-field drama over the past few months. Somebody will give him a chance, and these four teams are the most likely destinations.

Next Teams

Philadelphia Eagles

The rich keep getting richer, and General Manager Howie Roseman loves taking shots on big-name players. The Eagles have one of the best rosters in football, but the wide receiver position could be something of a liability at this point next year. A.J. Brown has been one of the least productive receivers in football, and if this is more than just a slow start, Philadelphia could look for another set of hands in the offseason. Tyreek Hill is far from a safe bet given his knee injury, but his upside is through the roof.

Dallas Cowboys

CeeDee Lamb isn’t going anywhere, but George Pickens might be playing his way into a massive contract in free agency. The Micah Parsons trade made it clear that Jerry Jones won’t break the bank for everyone, and Pickens will probably earn a larger deal elsewhere in free agency. This will leave the Cowboys looking for another receiver, and Tyreek Hill could be the perfect medium-risk, high-reward signing Jones loves to make.

Carolina Panthers

Through four games, it’s clear the Carolina Panthers miss Adam Thielen’s veteran presence. While first-round pick Tetairoa McMillan looks like the real deal, this team needs someone else to step up. Perhaps a now-healthy Jalen Coker can rise to the occasion, but Tyreek Hill offers far more upside and would give quarterback Bryce Young a legitimate speed threat down the field.

Baltimore Ravens

Nobody loves kicking the tires on older veterans more than the Baltimore Ravens. Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman are more than capable of being the top two receivers in this passing attack, but Baltimore loves to spread the ball around and could use Tyreek Hill as the third option in the passing attack. DeAndre Hopkins is nearing the end of his career, and Hill could effectively replace him in the offense during the offseason.
