The Eagles Don’t Just Select Top Physical Talent. You Must Possess A Championship Caliber. Here Are Some Draft Targets that Might Be a Perfect Fit.
If you want to play for the Eagles — then you better not just have a high talent ceiling. You better have a character to match it. That isn’t because the Eagles are World Champions. It’s a pedigree requirement adopted by the Eagles that has brought them two Lombardi Trophies in eight seasons. It should have been three.
In a stunning offseason move — the Eagles have shuttered two key pieces of their secondary in C.J. Gardener-Johnson and Darius Slay. It’s a vote of confidence in their young defensive backs who didn’t just contribute last season. But who coverage was lock-down.
The Eagles were the only team in NFL history to start two rookie defensive backs in the Conference Championship Game. It’s also the first time in franchise history that the Eagles have two rookie defensive backs nominated for the prestigious Rookie of the Year — presented by the Associated Press.

Notre Dame Safety Xavier Watts was part of a 2024 Fighting Irish secondary that helped to send Notre Dame all the way to the CFP National Championship last season. Playing all sixteen games — he helped the Irish with 52 solo tackles and six interceptions. He could be the perfectly compliment to one of the youngest NFL secondaries in the NFL.
It’s unclear how long the Eagles may be able to hold onto Dallas Goedert for. If you are looking to retain his size and strength — LSU Tight End Mason Taylor might be the perfect fit. At 6 foot 5, 251 pounds — Taylor is the son of Jason Taylor — a former Pro Bowl defensive end. Not turning twenty-one for another several weeks — he could be a great young addition to a team that prides themselves — on great, young additions.
Only the finest, in fact.
