This Defensive Line Will Be A Problem

March 20, 2022 by Philadelphia Sports Nation

Howie Roseman has made it clear during his tenure as Eagles general manager that you need to dominate in the trenches to succeed. So coming into this off-season, we knew the Eagles would look to add to their defensive line. On Monday afternoon the Eagles reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with defensive end/ outside linebacker Haason Reddick. With the addition of Reddick, the Eagles’ defensive line has the potential to be dominant.

As of now, the Eagles’ defensive line consists of Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave, Josh Sweat, Haason Reddick, Brandon Graham, and Milton Williams. Cox and the Eagles are expected to reach a new one-year deal after his release. The Eagles have a loaded defensive line with Pro Bowl talent all around it. The speed Sweat and Reddick possess on the edges is going to be a serious problem for opposing tackles. The Eagles have serious talent along that line, and they might not be done adding to it.

The Eagles have been connected to a lot of pass rushers in the draft. With three first-rounders it seems likely the Eagles use one on a defensive lineman, even after the Reddick signing. With Brandon Graham and Fletcher Cox on their way out soon, it’s crucial to bring in young talent on the line. The Eagles have their answer in Josh Sweat and Haason Reddick but don’t be surprised if Howie looks to add another weapon along the line.

With how much capital the Eagles have invested in the line, it is crucial for them to disrupt the quarterback consistently.  The Eagles’ first big signing of the off-season was for a young star at the defensive end position, and they certainly aren’t done adding to it. The Eagles on paper right now have one of the best defensive lines in football and they aren’t close to being done. If everyone plays to their full potential, then this might end up being one of the best defensive lines we’ve seen since the Super Bowl season.
