With move after move this off-season. Howie Roseman has set the Eagles up with another window to make a run for the Super Bowl.
Now sure, those are big aspirations for a team coming off a 9-8 season. However, that itself was an improvement on the 4-11-1 season prior.
Since the Wildcard loss against the Buccaneers. The Eagles have drastically improved the roster in several key positions. Such as:
– Kyzir White, Nakobe Dean & Haason Reddick have reshaped the LB core.
– A.J. Brown & Zach Pascal are huge improvements on what little WR depth there was in 2021.
– Jordan Davis will be the Philadelphia Defensive Tackle of the future.
– James Bradberry opposite Darius Slay solved the CB2 problem.
– Cam Jurgens is set up to be the Kelce replacement when his retirement comes around.
Setup For Success
The Eagles and the rest of the NFC East all have the 4 easiest strength of schedule coming into the 2022 season. However the Eagles look to be the team that made the most positives out of the Draft and Free Agency. Bringing back key players like Fletcher Cox, Anthony Harris and Jason Kelce are the veteran presence this team needs to get the newcomers up to speed.
Out of all these positives, another great outcome of this off-season is that Howie was able to keep the window open for another year. With 2 first round picks in the 2023 draft, keep your fingers crossed that the Saints fall off this year and provide the Eagles with another top 16 pick. With these 2 firsts, the Eagles have more than enough ammunition heading into the 2022 season that if any major trade additions need to be made they have the draft capital available if this is the year they go all in.
While NFC powerhouses like the Packers, Cardinals and Cowboys took some blows to their rosters. The Eagles should look to capitalize on the down year for some of these teams that are annually sitting at the top of power rankings.. Peter King recently posted the Eagles ranking at #9 while Pete Prisco has them sitting just below that at #11. Where do you see the Eagles sitting 3 months out from pre-season?
If you don’t see the Eagles being a major threat to the NFC this season, that’s ok. Even Howie Roseman said that the team is still rebuilding. However with many key pieces to the roster being young and signed on for years to come, this is just the beginning.
Go Birds.
