Every team goes into a season with questions and dilemmas that need to be answered throughout the season. Some team’s questions are more important than others. The Eagles have a lot of questions that need to be answered throughout the season. One question towers over all the others though.
Can Jalen Hurts be the QB of the future?
When the Eagles drafted Jalen in the second round it didn’t look like he would be the future starting quarterback anytime soon. Fast forward a year, and here we are. The QB room is officially now Jalen’s and Eagles fans have their hopes set extremely high. Jalen will have all of 2021 to show if he is the franchise QB or not. The question now is whether or not he shows enough to the coaching staff and Howie to believe he can be.
All of last year Eagles fans were begging the Eagles to make the switch from Carson Wentz to Jalen Hurts. Then on a Sunday in December at Lambeau, Eagles fans got their wish. Hurts was inserted into the game and immediately gave the Eagles a much-needed spark. Hurts was able to find Greg Ward in the back of the endzone for a beautiful touchdown that had all of Philadelphia forgetting about Carson Wentz. The following week the Eagles returned home to face the NFC’s top seed in the Saints. Hurts got his first NFL start and balled out. Rushing for over 100 yards and passing for over 100, something the Eagles haven’t seen since the Mike Vick days. Hurts led the Eagles to a huge upset over the Saints, which gave him the starting job the rest of the season. Hurts went on again to perform very well against the Cardinals the next week but then struggled the following two weeks. Hurts finished with 1,061 passing yards, six touchdowns, four interceptions, and also added three rushing touchdowns. The stage is now set for Jalen Hurts to take over as the future of the Philadelphia Eagles.

With the Sixers falling apart in the playoffs and the Phillies bullpen blowing every game possible, all eyes now turn to Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles. The excitement around the Eagles and Hurts is extremely high, even with the perception that the team won’t be that good. Even with the excitement, Hurts will still need to prove himself in 2021.

Nothing for Jalen is guaranteed going forward. The Eagles need to find their franchise QB and one bad season from Jalen could ruin his chances. With three first-round picks next year, Howie could look to make a move for a QB if Hurts struggles next year. The pressure is on for Jalen this year, but the pressure is nothing new to Jalen.
For my personal belief, I have full confidence in Jalen Hurts going forward. Besides the talent, Hurts is the type of guy you want as your QB. He has dealt with adversity, he’s a hard worker, and just a class act in the locker room. Jalen won’t cause any problems, he is there to just work and win. I have full confidence in Jalen balling out next year and proving he is the future of the Philadelphia Eagles at the QB spot.
