Tonight marks the first preseason game of the 2025 NFL season. And with that comes the induction for the Hall Of Fame Class of 2025.
With only 4 members inducted into the Hall this season makes 2025 the smallest HoF class of the 2020’s as the NFL honored the following players:
- DB Eric Allen, 6x Pro Bowl, 1st team All-Pro, 2x 2nd team All-Pro
- TE Antonio Gates, 8x Pro Bowl, 3x 1st team All-Pro, 2x 2nd team All-Pro, NFL 2000s All-Decade team
- DE Jared Allen, 5x Pro Bowl, 4x 1st team All-Pro, 2x Sack Leader
- WR Sterling Sharpe, 5x Pro Bowl, 3x 1st team All-Pro, 3x Reception Leader, 2x Receiving TD Leader, 1x Receiving Yard Leader
With such a small class rolls over many first year eligible players, creating a logjam of modern NFL players who will have to wait another year for their shot at being enshrined in Canton. including:
- QB Eli Manning
- LB Luke Kuechly
- OLB Terrell Suggs
- K Adam Vinatieri
Eagles Playing In Ohio
The Eagles have played 4 Hall Of Fame games dating all the way back to 1967.
- 1967: Eagles 28 – Browns 13
- 1978: Eagles 17 – Dolphins 3
- 1992: Jets 41 – Eagles 14
- 2006: Raiders 16 – Eagles 10
With almost 20 years since their last appearance in the first preseason game of the year. The Eagles have multiple players who have the possibility of getting inducted, and many more that will have eligibility in the comings year.
The players that could find their way into the Hall of Fame include:
- QB Randall Cunningham
- QB Donovan McNabb
- LB Seth Joyner
As long as the modern Eagles remain competitive the list of soon-to-be hall of fame candidates continues to grow. With a handful of Eagles legends retiring in the last few seasons, their eligibility will be here before you know it for the following players:
- C Jason Kelce (2029)
- DT Fletcher Cox (2029)
- LT Jason Peters (2029)
- WR DeSean Jackson (2028)
- S Malcolm Jenkins (2027)
- RB LeSean McCoy (2026)
There will also be a handful of retirement announcements in the coming years to add to that list of potential HoF Candidates:
- TE Zach Ertz
- RT Lane Johnson
- CB Darius Slay
