Saints HC Sean Payton Jabs the Eagles during New Orleans preparation for the Buccaneers

“Yeah, we’re not looking at the Eagles for any model.” — Sean Payton, when asked if their kicker-long snapper signings this week were similar to what Philadelphia did with Josh McCown in previous years.

The New Orleans Saints made two roster moves on Tuesday, signing former Minnesota Vikings kicker Blair Walsh and long snapper John Denney to the practice squad.

Walsh and Denney will practice away from the team in their own quarantine should COVID-19 issues make Will Lutz or Zach Wood unavailable for the playoffs.

Saints head coach Sean Payton was asked about the move in correlation to what the Eagles did earlier this season with QB Josh McCown.

As only Payton could, the Saints head coach delivered a heavyweight jab, telling reporters, “Yeah, we’re not looking at the Eagles for any model.”

Payton could still be a bit agitated about the Eagles 24-21 upset a few weeks back.
