Deshaun Watson is unofficially a member of the Cleveland Browns.
The Houston Texans star quarterback, who sat out the 2021 season while facing allegations of sexual misconduct by more than 20 women, is getting traded to Cleveland.
Watson, who will not face criminal charges for the allegations, could still face punishment from the National Football League.
Several teams reportedly showed interest in Watson, including the Philadelphia Eagles. However, Watson is friends with Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
According to a report, Watson didn’t want to take Hurts’ job.
“Yet, Watson wasn’t inclined to waive his no-trade clause for the Eagles and nothing ever developed,” Aaron Wilson reported. “One league source noted that Watson is friends with Hurts and wouldn’t have wanted to take away his starting job by supplanting him.”
The Eagles were one of several teams to show interest in Watson.
It was Cleveland that won out in the end, though.
