Jalen Carter Among the Four Philadelphia Eagles Dealing with Injuries to Start Training Camp
The Philadelphia Eagles started training camp on July 23rd, and while most players have been full participants, there are a few players dealing with injuries.
On the offensive side of the ball, center Cam Jurgens has been a limited participant on the first two days of training camp. Jurgens had surgery on his back during the offseason, so he is likely still working himself back to full strength before he is a full go in practice. The other offensive injury for the Eagles is from Kenyon Green. Green didn’t practice due to a knee injury. This is not an encouraging start for the former Houston Texan, as every practice he misses decreases his chance of earning the starting right guard spot.
The Eagles’ defense is also dealing with two injuries. Jihaad Campbell has been a limited participant, which is a positive given his injury concerns coming out of the draft. Not starting the season on the Physically Unable to Perform List (PUP) is a win for Campbell and the Eagles defense as the rookie fights for playing time with Jeremiah Trotter.

Jalen Carter’s injury is the most concerning of the group, though. Carter dealt with a shoulder injury throughout the 2024 Super Bowl season. While it is unclear if it is the same shoulder that Carter had issues with last season, it certainly would not be ideal if he is still dealing with the same injury. It is possible that the Eagles are just being cautious with one of their best players. That has often been the case with teams in training camp. It is certainly something to monitor, though, as the Eagles defense can ill afford to be without their star defensive tackle for an extended period of time.
