The Philadelphia Eagles are bringing back Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay for another year but came considerably close to losing him by his own admission.
In a recent video on The Volume, Slay revealed that he came extremely close to signing with the Baltimore Ravens. He said revealed that the Ravens were ready to offer him what he wanted, but he decided to give the Eagles a chance to match it.
As it turns out, the Eagles were happy to match. The end result was a two-year, $42 million extension with $32 million guaranteed for the five-time Pro Bowler.
Eagles fans were happy to see that their star cornerback is coming back for a fourth (and potentially fifth) season, while Ravens fans are fuming over losing yet another top target of theirs.

Baltimore Ravens fans are understandably upset to see yet another big-time free agent slip away from them. Given the struggles they’re having to bring back star quarterback Lamar Jackson, they’ve got a lot of reasons to be upset these days.
As for the Philadelphia Eagles, it seems like just about everything is going their way this offseason. They’ve managed to retain just about all of their big stars who contributed to their NFC Championship win this past season.
Slay has made five Pro Bowls in the last five years and is playing at a very high level right now. He could be a major part of the Eagles’ success in 2023.
