Carson Wentz and the Eagles separated earlier this year, and Philly is treating it like a breakup.
It’s been six months since the Eagles moved on from the former North Dakota Star. They made the breakup official on Monday by removing the Wentz banner that was previously seen at Lincoln Financial Field.

As you may expect from Philly fans, the removal was one of celebration. Wentz struggled in his final few years with the Eagles, and fans have been wanting to move on for a while now.
So who will replace Wentz on the new banner at Lincoln Financial Field? That would be Nick Foles, who led the Eagles to a Super Bowl win over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in 2018.

There was really no other choice here. Nick Foles will go down as a Philly legend. For good reason, too. Foles threw for 373 yards and three touchdowns to beat the Patriots 41-33 in Super Bowl LLI.
The Eagles, meanwhile, have moved on from Carson Wentz and are moving forward with Jalen Hurts. Hurts adds a new layer to the Philly offense, thanks to his rushing ability. The Eagles may be reluctant to run him too often, though. Preventing Hurts from getting injured is a priority.
The Eagles went 4-11-1 last season, proving to be one of their worst seasons in recent memory. With Wentz out the door and a new coaching staff in place, though, there is plenty of reason to be optimistic.
