In an organic next step for the Eagles owner, he’s partnering with CHOP and Penn Medicine to open the Lurie Autism Institute.

Eagles CEO Jeffrey Lurie is putting his money where his mouth is in regards to his commitment to Autism research and the community. Lurie is donating $50 million to launch the Lurie Autism Institute in partnership with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Penn Medicine.

The gift, from the Lurie family, is the largest single donation to U.S. academic medical centers focused on autism research across the lifespan. https://t.co/kVsKZ6E7Ii

The philanthropic mission for Lurie is personal, and he’s spent a majority of his life advocating for the Autism community and leading the way for inclusion in the NFL and at Eagles events. He’s also fostered an environment that supports the families and caretakers in ways that can often be afterthoughts.

The Eagles Autism Foundation, also started by Lurie as the team’s charitable arm, raised an incredible $10 million this year with their annual fundraising bike ride/challenge. Every year, donations go toward community initiatives, as well as research funding and grants, and the event has become a fun opportunity for players and coaches to get involved with fans.

Opening the Lurie Autism Institute is an organic next step in Jeffrey’s mission, and his support will facilitate tangible benefits for so many people looking for help and hope.

In a league filled with some questionable owners, it’s nice that the Eagles have someone as compassionate and generous as Jeffrey Lurie running things.
