The Philadelphia Eagles are close to bringing Fletcher Cox back.
Cox was released on Thursday since his contract was too pricy, but it doesn’t seem like he’s going to be a free agent for long.
Per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the two sides are discussing a one-year deal that would guarantee Cox $14M.
Cox has been with the Eagles every year since 2013 and is coming off another stellar season. He finished with 35 total tackles (25 solo), 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

He was even better in 2020 after he had 41 total tackles (28 solo), 6.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.
He’s always been a key cog on Philadelphia’s defensive line, especially in the run game.
Philadelphia will try to make the playoffs in back-to-back seasons after falling to Tampa Bay in the wild-card round in January.
Getting Cox back in the fold would go a long way towards that goal being accomplished.
