ESPN Analyst Predicts Philadelphia Eagles Trade for Pro Bowl Cornerback

October 18, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

It’s no secret that the Philadelphia Eagles will be active in the trade market given their recent struggles. Their two weakest areas look to be their pass rush and their secondary. This trade, projected by ESPN analyst Bill Barnwell, would bring some much-needed help to the position.

ESPN Analyst Predicts Philadelphia Eagles Trade for Pro Bowl Cornerback

Eagles’ New Cornerback

Barnwell posted 13 trades he would like to see happen before the NFL’s trade deadline, and it could be exactly what the Eagles need to reinforce their secondary. He projected the Eagles to trade cornerback Kelee Ringo and a 2026 fourth-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks. In return, the Eagles would receive cornerback Riq Woolen and a 2026 fifth-round pick. Barnwell had this to say about the potential Eagles target:

“He could wear an Eagles uniform in 2025, though. Philly desperately needs a third cornerback to play on the outside across from Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, and though Woolen has struggled to match what was a sterling performance as a rookie, he’s going to offer more upside than just about anybody else the Eagles can acquire at the deadline. The other corners on the market are going to be either similarly frustrating young prospects (Cam Taylor-Britt of the Bengals, Joshua Williams of the Chiefs) or replacement-level journeymen (Saints corner Isaac Yiadom or Commanders corner Noah Igbinoghene). Woolen is a shot worth taking and a potential project for Vic Fangio over the rest of the season.”

Woolen in, Ringo out

It is well known that Ringo has struggled when he has seen the field this year. Losing a training camp battle to Adoree Jackson, getting a chance to play, then being benched again in Week 6. A change of scenery may be exactly what Ringo needs to flourish. Woolen finds himself in a similar situation. He burst onto the scene as a pro bowler in his rookie campaign, but has been downhill since. He hasn’t taken that next step forward that many in Seattle hoped he would. Hopefully, all he needs is a change of scenery, and getting to Philadelphia would do wonders for the fourth-year veteran. Woolen is currently playing on an expiring contract, so unless the Eagles sign him to an extension, it would be a one-year rental.

This would also be a very cheap price for the Eagles to pay in terms of draft capital. Howie Roseman loves compiling assets to wheel and deal, but wouldn’t have the need to do so here. By simply swapping his fourth-round pick with the Seahawks’ fifth-round pick, they maintain the same number of picks they previously had. This could allow Roseman to allocate those resources elsewhere, in case he wanted to make another move for another position.

Roseman and the Eagles could opt to go with a more experienced, sure-fire veteran if they are not comfortable taking a chance on Woolen. But the upside is clear in this deal, and could be just what the Eagles need.
