Eagles Tight End Agrees to Re-worked Contract

May 8, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Eagles Tight End

The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off of a Super Bowl victory. Things are already looking very bright in Philadelphia, and now the team has restructured the contract of Dallas Goedert ahead of the 2025 season. This keeps Goedert with the Eagles as their starting tight end.

Eagles Tight End Agrees to Re-worked Contract

The Philadelphia Eagles have locked in tight end Dallas Goedert for the 2025 season through a restructured contract. This keeps a core piece of the Eagles’ offense in place. Goedert was set to make $14 million next season, but that has now been restructured to $10 million.

Goedert, entering his age-30 season, remains a valuable piece in the Eagles’ offensive puzzle. His versatility as both a pass-catcher and a blocker makes him a dual-threat tight end. Though his 2024 regular season stats weren’t career highs, his playoff performance spoke volumes. In key postseason moments, Goedert delivered clutch catches, providing quarterback Jalen Hurts with a reliable target when it mattered most. He racked up 215 receiving yards along with 17 receptions during the Eagles’ Super Bowl run.

Eagles Dynamic Offense

By retaining their tight end, the Eagles are doubling down on their Super Bowl winning roster. With A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith stretching defenses on the outside, Goedert thrives underneath, which gives Philadelphia a well-rounded passing attack. The Eagles are not necessarily a pass-first team either. Philadelphia is at its best on offense when they are running the ball effectively with Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts.

NFC East outlook

In the NFC East, this move resonates beyond Philly. The division features aggressive defenses like Dallas and an improving Washington front. Having an experienced tight end who can run block, help in pass protection, and expose linebackers in coverage is a big advantage. The Eagles should be the overwhelming favorite to win the division again next season, with the Commanders likely to be second.

This new contract signals that the Eagles are still in win-now mode, choosing to ride with proven talent rather than reset at the tight end position. Long-term, Philadelphia will need to groom a successor. However, keeping Goedert was the right short-term call for a team chasing another Super Bowl.
