Eagles Star Reportedly Requested Trade During 2025 Season – 3 Potential Next Teams

January 19, 2026 by Last Word On Pro Football

The drama continues for the Philadelphia Eagles as star wide receiver AJ Brown apparently requested a trade “numerous” times after the Week 3 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. According to the source, they believe the wide receiver asked for a trade way before the deadline in November during the regular season, but the Eagles continue to downplay the rumors. Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman does not envision Brown playing anywhere else and has called him a “great” player, which would be hard to find a replacement. Unfortunately for Philadelphia, it won’t be up to them, as Brown could make a public statement via social media or have a sit-down with the front office to request a trade out of the team.

Eagles Star AJ Brown Reportedly Requested Trade During 2025 Season

Originally selected in the 2019 NFL Draft, the former second-round pick is coming off his worst season as a reliable offensive weapon. Despite hauling in more than 1,000 receiving yards, the disgruntled athlete hasn’t been able to stay on the same page as quarterback Jalen Hurts. Brown is still getting the ball, but it’s not like how he wants, and if that continues to become a distraction in the locker room, the Eagles would have no other choice but to grant him a trade.

Brown has been disgruntled all season, even during the 2024 season, when the team won the Super Bowl. While the Eagles want Brown as a member of this receiving unit, they could still trade him. Roseman praised former quarterback Carson Wentz the same way, later trading him to the Colts in 2021. Brown may no longer be the same pass-catcher he once was, but these three teams should be interested in saving his career in 2026.

Next Possible Fits

Los Angeles Chargers

After firing offensive coordinator Greg Roman, the Los Angeles Chargers have the lane open to rebuild. Quarterback Justin Herbert is still one of the best throwers in this league, but he doesn’t have enough pass-catchers to make an impact in the postseason. A young Ladd McConkey is their only real threat, and that is very telling of how inaccurate Roman has been. The Chargers are easily one of the best football teams, but they need to help Herbert, and they should do that by trading for AJ Brown.

This would allow McConkey to lean on a veteran in special play moments. If the Chargers find a way to trade for Brown, the team could find itself in the AFC Championship Game next year.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Meanwhile, the Jaguars came alive during the wild-card matchup against Buffalo, but it wasn’t enough to advance. Brian Thomas Jr. is finally thriving despite his early 2025 season struggles. However, just because he found life, it doesn’t mean the Jaguars won’t consider upgrading the offense for Trevor Lawrence. The team has two established long-term pass-catchers after drafting Travis Hunter and trading for Jakobi Meyers.

Jacksonville could advance further in the postseason, similar to the Chargers, if they trade for Brown. The Jaguars could give up Thomas and a first-round pick for Brown.

Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos have won their first playoff game since the Peyton Manning Era in Super Bowl 50. Ever since they traded DeVaughn Vele, the Broncos had to lean on Marvin Mims Jr. and an unproven Pat Bryant. If they want Bo Nix to make a difference for several seasons, they should get Brown in the same room as Courtland Sutton, which could be a special under Sean Payton’s wing.
