Eagles Former Center to Host Late Night Show

November 22, 2024 by Last Word On Pro Football

Former Eagles center Jason Kelce decided to call it a career after the 2023 season. Since then, he’s been really busy in the media. Kelce still runs his popular New Heights podcast while also being a Monday Night Football commentator on ESPN. Now, it seems he’s spreading his wings even further into the ESPN wheel. According to multiple outlets, Kelce will begin a late-night comedy show with ESPN in the coming months.

More Details

Eagles Wire has provided the introductory details about the show. The show is titled “They Call It Late Night With Jason Kelce.” The show will be filmed on five consecutive Fridays starting Jan 3 through the NFL Playoffs. ESPN announced the show will be shot at The Union Transfer and will feature comedy, guests, and dance music.

Kelce made this news public on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show. The New York Post reports that Kelce mentioned his affinity for late-night shows which sparked the idea.

“When I first approached ESPN with potentially working for them and ‘Monday Night Football’ football was a big part of that and ‘Monday Night Countdown’ I loved late night shows. The Eagles former center also added that he was a big fan of the Conan O’Brien show growing up.

It will be interesting to see how this show plays out in January.

Media Empire

As spoken about in the previous section. Kelce was building his media presence before his playing career even ended. The Kelce brothers started the New Heights Podcast in 2022, two seasons before his playing career ended.

He experienced much success through this endeavor. The New York Times has the podcast listed with about 2.4 million subscribers on youtube. They also have about 1.5 million followers across TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube shorts. They are also ranked around the top of podcast charts like Apple and Spotify charts.

Despite being offered a chance to be welcomed back to the NovaCare Complex, Kelce has been a prominent figure since joining ESPN’s Monday night staff. Even though he doesn’t have a direct role with the Eagles, he is still trying to stick to his routes in Philadelphia.

Kelce has won fans over with his outgoing and humorous personality which would translate well to the late-night comedy scene. It will also be interesting to see how ESPN translates to the late-night comedy scene, considering it’s a format that the program hasn’t delved into in the traditional sense.

The only issue is that the show is slated to be fairly late for most viewers. The episodes are scheduled between 1 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. for the show’s running time. It is probably a wise option that the show is scheduled specifically for Fridays.

We’ll have to wait over a month to see how this new Kelce endeavor pans out.
