Cowboys ended practice early due to fighting, but it might signify a culture shift in Dallas

The Cowboys’ head coach might be showing signs of competence, but luckily Jerry Jones is still in charge to keep things messy.

The Cowboys ended training camp practice early on Wednesday after one player got ejected for throwing a punch and things got chippy again shortly after that. New head coach Brian Schottenheimer had the team running sprints to end the day as a punishment for repeatedly fighting throughout the first week of camp.

While the masses may be loving the in-fighting, the fact that the head coach not only kicked out one of his players, but also held the rest of the team accountable for their actions, is the type of discipline we’re not used to seeing from Dallas.

There’s a reason Eagles fans loved Mike McCarthy at the helm of the Cowboys the last few seasons. He might’ve been able to beat Philly a few times, but everyone knew he wasn’t taking any of those teams to a Super Bowl. Schottenheimer may not take a team to a Super Bowl, either, but he at least seems to be building some kind of culture in Dallas that they haven’t seen for quite awhile.

Even if Schottenheimer may be turning the team around, the Jones family is still running things, and Jerry Jones will assuredly find a way to mess things up — take the Micah Parsons negotiations somehow getting even worse, for example.
