There were a lot of moving pieces, but the Eagles’ trade for Jahan Dotson is finally complete
With 2025 NFL Draft weekend upon us, fans of teams across the league are filled with the hopes and dreams of the players selected making an impact on the field and helping their team to the Super Bowl. The draft also means closing the books on past trades that included future draft picks. One big one was the August 2024 trade that sent Jahan Dotson from the Washington Commanders to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Original Terms of the Jahan Dotson trade
- Eagles receive: Jahan Dotson, 2025 fifth-round pick
- Commanders receive: 2025 third-round pick, 2025 seventh-round pick, 2025 seventh-round pick
What did the Eagles do with the pick from the Jahan Dotson trade?
The fifth-round pick the Eagles received is number 165 in the 2025 NFL Draft. We will update the post when the pick is made.
How was Jahan Dotson’s performance for the Eagles in 2024?
Dotson saw limited targets for much of the season, recording just 19 receptions for 216 yards without finding the end zone a single time. This was not due to limited playing time, though, as he logged 674 snaps over the course of the year, including six starts. However, in a receiver room that also includes A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith, Dotson was certainly not the primary option on most passing plays.
When the Eagles rested starters in Week 18, leaving Brown and Smith inactive, Dotson put up his best receiving performance of the year, with seven catches for 94 yards.
He nabbed two catches against the Packers in the Wild Card round but was held without a catch in the Divisional and NFC Championship games. He made a bigger impact in the Super Bowl catching two passes for 42 yards.
What did the Commanders do with the picks from the Jahan Dotson trade?
Washington sent two of the three picks received, the third-round pick and one of the seventh-round selections, to the Houston Texans for left tackle Laremy Tunsil in a compensation package that also included a 2026 second-round pick and a 2026 fourth-round pick.
The 79th overall pick from Houston was used on Iowa State WR Jaylin Noel.
The third selection Washington received from Philadelphia turned into pick 248 in the 2025 NFL Draft. We will update the post when the pick is made.
