While teams like the Chargers went above and beyond featuring a Minecraft-themed schedule release video jam-packed with jabs and Easter eggs of their opponents, the Eagles managed to keep their video simple with just one thing front and center…
The Vince Lombardi Trophy from Super Bowl LIX.
The very trophy they’ll celebrate on September 4th, in the first game of the NFL regular season against none other than the division rival Dallas Cowboys, who haven’t been to a Super Bowl since 1996.
Early in the Schedule

Opening the season against a division rival is just the tip of the iceberg for the Eagles.
They’ll have a Super Bowl 59 rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs just two weeks into the season.
And if that isn’t enough, they’ll have a Divisional Round rematch against the Rams in Week 3, as well as 2 more additional playoff teams in the Buccaneers and Broncos before one of the “easier” matchups they’ll see all year, when they travel to MetLife and see the new and improved Jaxson Dart led Giants for the first time.
New Age Gauntlet
Two seasons ago, when Brian Johnson was OC and a share of Sean Desai/Matt Patricia were DC, the Eagles had a stretch in their schedule dubbed “The Gauntlet,” in which they played the following teams.
- Week 9 vs Cowboys
- Week 10 BYE
- Week 11 @ Chiefs
- Week 12 vs Bills
- Week 13 vs 49ers
- Week 14 @ Cowboys
- Week 15 @ Seahawks
The Eagles might’ve started 3-0 during this stretch, but they spiralled into a 0-3 run that saw them go 1-2 to end the regular season before a blowout loss in the Wildcard round.
Changes were made, and fans were skeptical about the upcoming year. Then the Eagles signed Saquon Barkley, and the rest is history.
With the release of the 2025 Schedule, the Eagles will go through TWO stretches similar to the gauntlet. One before their Week 9 BYE and one after. All broken up by three teams that look to improve from their 2024 seasons. With a strength of schedule I’d .561, the Eagles will face the 4th most difficult schedule this season behind the Lions (.571) Bears (.571) and Giants (.574)
Gauntlet, Part I
- Week 1 vs Cowboys (7-10)
- Week 2 @ Chiefs (15-2, Super Bowl rematch)
- Week 3 vs Rams (10-7, Divisional rematch)
- Week 4 @ Buccaneers (10-7)
- Week 5 vs Broncos (10-7)
- Week 6 @ Giants (3-14)
- Week 7 @ Vikings (14-3)
- Week 8 vs Giants (3-14)
While there’s no guarantee any of these teams will be better or worse than they were last season, the Eagles will open the year with five of their first seven games against teams that made the playoffs the previous season.
After Week 9 BYE, it starts all over again, although it is a little more broken up this time.
Gauntlet, Part II
- Week 10 @ Packers (11-6, Wildcard rematch)
- Week 11 vs Lions (15-2)
- Week 12 @ Cowboys (7-10)
- Week 13 vs Bears (5-12)
- Week 14 vs Chargers (11-6)
- Week 15 vs Raiders (4-13)
- Week 16 @ Commanders (12-5, NFC Championship rematch)
- Week 17 @ Bills (13-4)
- Week 18 vs Commanders (12-5, NFC Championship rematch)
The weaker teams that will shake up the rugged stretch of the Eagles’ year are the Bears, Giants, and Raiders. All 3 have significantly upgraded their roster over the offseason, including Ben Johnson as the Bears’ coach. Ashton Jeanty is being drafted by the Raiders, as well as a trade for Geno Smith. And the Giants acquired Abdul Carter & Cam Skattebo.
Being the defending champs means the Eagles will be the team to beat week in and week out.
It’ll be up to them to defend their title during the regular season as they seek to become repeat champions.
