Two people were shot at the end of the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX parade on Friday afternoon, according to CBS News, The incident occurred near 23rd and Spring Garden Streets.
It’s unclear what led to the shooting or the condition of the two victims who were shot.
The shooting took place just blocks from the Philadelphia Art Museum. Crowds gathered throughout the city to celebrate the Super Bowl LIX victory parade.
This is the second year in a row that gun violence has taken place during the parade, with Kansas City being the site of a mass shooting on February 14, 2024, at Union Station, which resulted in one death and 22 injuries.
Friday marks one year since the tragedy sent shockwaves through a Super Bowl-winning city.
Update (3:45 p.m. ET): According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the two victims were women who appeared to be in their 20s and both are in stable condition. They were shot “by a man in an Eagles jersey after an argument,” per Deputy Police Commissioner Frank Vanore.
