Breaking: Villanova Already Has Jay Wright Replacement Picked

Jay Wright’s time at Villanova has finally come to an end. On Wednesday night, the basketball world was stunned to hear that Wright is retiring at just 60 years old.

Wright had an incredible run with the Wildcats, winning two national championships and making several Final Four appearances.

Of course, Wright’s retirement leaves Villanova with a massive hole to fill at head coach. The good news, however, is the university already has a succession plan in place.

According to

Fordham University coach Kyle Neptune is expected to be the choice to succeed two-time NCAA champion Jay Wright as the new head coach of Villanova, sources tell @TheAthletic@Stadium.

Neptune, 37, was an assistant coach at Villanova from 2013-2021 before being named the head coach of Fordham’s basketball team. Now, he’ll have a chance to lead one of the best programs in the country.

During his one season at Fordham, Neptune led the Rams to a 16-16 record.

With more talent and resources around him at Villanova, the hope is that Neptune can become one of the top coaches in college basketball.
