Major upgrades are reportedly coming to Happy Valley over the next few years.

On Tuesday, Front Office Sports shared the news that Penn State’s Board of Trustees have approved a $700 million renovation project to Beaver Stadium.

Some of the stadium’s new features include:

  • A 21,000 square-foot “Welcome Center”
  • New escalators & videoboards
  • Widened concourses
  • “Winterization Work” to help the school potentially host a Playoff game.

The upgrades are on track to be completed prior to the start of the 2027 season with the university adding that the costs will be financed through concessions, fundraising, sponsorships and ticket sales.

“It’s current state is not what we would wish to represent the PSU image, and we want to portray an improved stadium,” trustee Lynn Dietrich said Tuesday. “It looks weathered and worn and is in need of our help and attention now.”

“By making these renovations, Beaver Stadium would be one of the only multi-use entertainment facilities at this scale between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh,” Penn State AD Patrick Kraft added.

Beaver Stadium has been home to the Nittany Lions for over six decades and is the second-largest college football venue in the nation, seating 106,572 people. The vote to approve the changes was 26-2 with three trustees choosing to abstain.
