After missing shootaround and being listed as questionable, Tyrese Maxey is available to play Game 2 vs. the Knicks. Joel Embiid will also suit up.
So, it looks like he had a good bowl of chicken noodle soup.
After missing this morning’s shooataround and popping up on the injury report with an illness, Tyrese Maxey has been cleared to play for Game 2 Monday night. Philadelphia has to feel a sigh of relief after Maxey led all scorers with 33 points.
Twenty-one of those points came in the second half as well, picking up the scoring burden after Joel Embiid tweaked his knee in the second quarter. Embiid had 11 points in the second half, shooting just 2-of-11 from the field while looking unable to attack the basket.
Speaking of Embiid, the reigning MVP will also be available after being listed as questionable. So, the Sixers will have both of their All-Stars for Game 2.
This scare was a good reminder of how much trouble the Sixers are in if Maxey does have to miss a game these playoffs. With Kyle Lowry already in the starting lineup, the Sixers don’t have many other options to handle the ball off the bench. One key injury and they’ll quickly be relying on a lot of Cam Payne minutes.
