Surgery An Option For Philadelphia 76ers Star Joel Embiid

Earlier this week, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid suffered a torn meniscus against the Golden State Warriors. The latest update on the reigning MVP is quite concerning.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Embiid may go under the knife to repair his torn meniscus.

Embiid has been diagnosed with a displaced flap of the meniscus. His doctors and the 76ers are weighing his options, especially since surgery would force him to miss an extended period of time.

The 76ers have not yet commented on the possibility of Embiid getting surgery. They’ll most likely release a statement once they finalize his treatment plan.

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid — the reigning NBA MVP — has been diagnosed with a displaced flap of the meniscus in his left knee and is weighing rest/rehab or a procedure, according to two sources.

Embiid is having another MVP-caliber season with the 76ers, averaging 35.3 points and 11.3 rebounds per game.

Unfortunately, Embiid won’t be able to win back-to-back MVPs because of this injury. To make matters worse, it could limit his ability to be super effective in the playoffs, which would be the last thing fans want to see.

Hopefully, the 76ers have positive news to share in the coming days regarding Embiid’s health.
