The Sixers will bring in forward Trendon Watford, a source confirms to Liberty Ballers. The signing likely closes the door on a reunion with Guerschon Yabusele.

The Sixers have agreed to terms with free agent Trendon Watford on a two-year, $5.3 million deal, a source confirms to Liberty Ballers. The news was first reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania.

In Watford, the Sixers fill a need at the four while taking a flyer on a player with a strong pedigree.

Watford had two successful seasons at LSU but went undrafted in 2021. He spent two years with the Portland Trail Blazers before playing the last two with the Brooklyn Nets. Nothing about his stats will blow you away, but his per-36 minutes numbers from last season are interesting: 17.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists. He’s not a knockdown shooter but he’s made 35% of his threes for his career and had two seasons over 39%.

At 6-foot-9, 240 pounds and boasting a 7-foot-2 wingspan, Watford offers plenty of size at the four. He’s also highly skilled for the power forward position. He has legitimate pedigree — he was a five-star recruit and was widely considered a top-20 recruit in the country once upon time. He also has a little sandpaper to his game.

It doesn’t hurt that he’s buddies with Tyrese Maxey, either.

A league source also indicated that forward Guerschon Yabusele is not likely to re-sign with the Sixers. We’ll see how the market plays out for the Dancing Bear.
