Sixers Star Joel Embiid To Undergo MRI After Unfortunate Knee Injury

Last night’s loss to the Golden State Warriors got 10 times worse in the fourth quarter for the Philadelphia 76ers as superstar Joel Embiid had to leave the game with a serious-looking knee injury.

During the fourth quarter, a scramble for a loose ball resulted in Warriors player Jonathan Kuminga jumping onto Embiid’s leg. When that happened, Embiid grabbed his knee in serious pain.

Sadly, the injury might be as bad as it looked. According to ESPN’s Kendra Andrews, Embiid is slated to undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the injury.

Speaking to the media after the game, 76ers head coach Nick Nurse wanted to emphasize that the injury Embiid suffered was not related to the one that had been affecting him in recent games.

“We just have to wait,” Nurse said after the game.

Nick Nurse says that the injury that forced Embiid to leave the game in the fourth quarter was unrelated to the injury that has held him out recently. Embiid will get an MRI.

Just eight days ago Joel Embiid scored an incredible 70 points in a win over the San Antonio Spurs.

To think that now we might be looking at him being on the shelf for a good while really puts a damper on what has otherwise been a sensational follow-up season to last year’s MVP campaign.

We wish Embiid all of the best and hope the injury isn’t serious.
