The Sixers have signed New Jersey native Dominick Barlow to a two-way contract. They’ll waive Alex Reese in a corresponding move.
Summer League is in full swing, showcasing all of the Sixers’ two-way contract players. Amid the action, however, roster changes are already underway, as Alex Reese will be waived — creating an open two-way contract slot. HoopsHype’s Mike Scotto is the first to report the news:
The Philadelphia 76ers are waiving two-way forward Alex Reese, league sources told @hoopshype. Reese averaged 16.1 points on 45.1% from the field and 39.3% from 3-point range, 6.9 rebounds, 1.8 blocks, and 1.2 steals for the Delaware Blue Coats and Rip City Remix in the G League.

The Sixers didn’t waste much time filling their newly vacant two-way contract spot, signing former Spurs and Hawks forward Dominick Barlow. ESPN’s Shams Charania reports:
The Philadelphia 76ers are signing former Spurs and Hawks forward Dominick Barlow on a two-way NBA contract, Life Sports Agency CEO Todd Ramasar tells ESPN.

The Sixers signed Reese back in February to a two-way contract, as the team was dealing with a myriad of injuries and the beginning of their unofficial tank. Reese was serviceable, appearing in 14 games for the Sixers and averaging 5.3 points and 3.3 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per game. He shot 47.2 percent from the field and 36.6 percent from three. Recently, Reese has been sidelined in Summer League due to Achilles tendonitis. This injury, combined with the fact that he’s already 26 years old and the roster has new needs, likely factored into the decision to part ways.
Philadelphia natives will likely recognize Barlow’s name, as he attended St. Joseph’s Preparatory School during his freshman year. He took a somewhat unique path to the NBA, signing with Team Overtime in the Overtime Elite basketball league — a developmental league focused on players aged 16 to 18. Barlow averaged 14.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game with Team Overtime before declaring for the 2022 NBA Draft, where he went undrafted. He eventually signed a two-way contract with the San Antonio Spurs, earning a second two-way deal after his rookie season. In 2024, Barlow was converted to a standard NBA contract. He later signed another two-way deal with the Atlanta Hawks during the 2024 offseason, once again earning a promotion to a standard NBA contract.
Barlow appeared in 35 regular season games for the Hawks this past season, averaging 4.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 10.7 minutes per game. He shot 53.1 percent from the field.
For those unfamiliar with Barlow, he’s a young (still just 22 years old), athletic forward with a versatile skill set, most notably on the defensive end. He has a large frame, big hands, and excellent lateral quickness. His athleticism shines in transition, where he’s more than capable of finishing above the rim. At the 2022 NBA Draft Combine, Barlow measured 6’9.75” in shoes, with a 7’3” wingspan and a 9’0.5” standing reach.
Now, Barlow joins the Sixers on a two-way deal alongside Hunter Sallis and Jabari Walker. Between Walker, Barlow and Trendon Watford, the Sixers’ forward rotation is starting to look much more plentiful. All three are under the age of 24 and bring valuable traits — like rebounding, size, and defensive versatility — that should earn them opportunities on the court sooner rather than later.
